Hygiene for Girls & Women

Our project for health promotion and dignity.

During menstruation, many women and girls are unable to participate in social life. Because they lack sanitary products, they stay at home. Girls can miss a quarter of their schooling for that reason. Without sanitary products, the risk of infection also increases.

This is about more than hygiene and health – it's about the dignity of women and girls and their education.

Through the local NGO WDIRA, we purchase and distribute washable sanitary pads from maryod.com and soap. Maryod is a company based in Addis Ababa, and the pads are produced in Ethiopia. 

With a donation of €10, you can sponsor a package of sanitary products (washable sanitary pads and panties) for a girl for a year.

Image below: Through our partner NGO WDIRA we distributed 200 packages of hygiene products to women in Mersa, in April 2025. The project was realized in cooperation with the local health bureau.
